I mean, even the latest unemployment numbers suggest that we are in a lot of trouble. The hard truth is that people are jobless, and the outlook for future jobs is bleak.

Sad news aside, today we still need to purchase things to help us stay competitive in the world. What I mean is that you need a computer to send emails to job recruiters. You need the Internet to research prospective employers. If not, you have to run to your local library to get Internet and computer access. Also, you need a printer to print out your resume or cover letters. I am sure that some people prefer the cheapest printer to own.

This blog post is here to help you find the cheapest printer to own. I did some research online, and it looks like printers aren’t as cheap as they used to be, with shipping factored in. However, you might be able to find a cheap printer on sale in brick and mortar stores like Wal-Mart of Staples.

The good news is that the cheapest printers I have found online are under $50. I recommend searching for Lexmark printers or cheap HP inkjets. Here are a few printers I found for cheap. Hopefully these are good for you. You can also check out sites like slickdeals.net or wait until you see a sale online or at a local store. However, if you need a printer urgently, these printers are still pretty cheap. I hope you found this post helpful!

A Deeper Review of the Brother MFC 9460CDN

The Good Stuff: The MFC 9460CDN does it all. It scans, copies, faxes, and prints, in both color and black. Speeds are pretty high, at 25 pages per minute. This is a good substitute for 4 machines in a larger office. Duplexing is a nice feature if you need to print on both sides of the paper.

Some Pitfalls:It is not wireless and is basically a scaled down version of the MFC 9970CDW.

Conclusion: It’s a little cheaper than the MFC 9970CDW, but personally I’d go with the more expensive model because it’s easier to use and a little faster. I guess in this case you get what you pay for. The MFC 9460CDN by Brother is still a good printer though.

hp-printer-1Summary: Simply put, the HP Laserjet P2035N is a workhorse. Reliable and steady, the P2035N is good for any office environment. Compact enough even to fit in your home office. Reasonably priced. Only prints in black ink. Watch out: toner cartridges last about 2,300 pages; therefore, the cost-per-page printed is  a little high.

Product Specs: The Hp Laserjet P2035N weighs 23.6 pounds (a little under 11 kgs) and its dimensions are 14.4 X 14.4 X 10.1 inches.

Functions: This printer is built for speed, baby. It sizzles paper out at a speed of 30 pages per minute. It is not wireless and only prints in black ink. So basically this is your no frills speed demon. It easily networks with other computers.

A Deeper Review of the HP Laserjet P2035N

The Good Stuff: The P2035N is really easy to set up. But its basic claim to fame is its speed. It prints at 30 pages per minute. The first page is out in about 7 seconds, and the rest are out every two seconds. It uses HP’s Instant on Technology, which uses less output and is more “green”. A very reliable workhorse if you aren’t looking for a lot of bells and whistles.

Some Pitfalls: A lot of people have had trouble using the P2305N with Windows 7. You can download drivers, but the issue still hasn’t been fixed completely at the  time of this review. If you have Windows 7, I’d stay away from this printer. Also, it does not print in color and is not wireless. It does network through wires with other computers.

Quick Tip: Do not confuse the HP Laserjet P2035N with the HP Laserjet P2035; the P2035 does not have networking capabilities, the P2035N does. That’s the only difference between these two printers. To see the P2035, click here. 

The last problem is that the cost per printed page is pretty high. The cartridge lasts about 2,300 pages. That makes the cost per page about 4 cents. This printer only uses the HP 05A cartridge; it does not use the much cheaper and more economical Hp05X cartridge.

Conclusion: If you are looking for just a simple, reliable, fast workhorse, then this printer is for you. If you need color, wireless, or more bells and whistles, I would suggest looking at another printer other than the P2035N. Windows 7 does not work with this computer; also the cost per printed page can be lower on other printers as well. This one is built all for speed and durability.

A Deeper Review of the Brother MFC 9970CDW

The Good Stuff: In my experience, setup and installation were a breeze. Though this printer is a little big at 63 pounds, it sure frees up a lot of space in our office. Think about it–it’s 4 machines in one! The resolution is 2400 X 600 DPI (dots per inch). In both color and black printing, this printer is really fast! Actually it prints to the tune of 30 pages per minute fast. It scans pretty fast as well. And the finished product looks really professional. It’s wireless so you can even print from your Android! Basically, the 9970CDW by Brother is a beast!

Some Pitfalls: The major issue with this printer is that sometimes the toner is still half full when the printer says that you are out of ink. This has been reported in a lot of reviews online. Some people even accuse Brother of doing this purposefully as a scheme to make you purchase more ink toner cartridges. One of the most practical solutions is to buy a refill kit and refill the ink yourself. This is an inconvenience but it saves you money.

Another problem is that sometimes the corners of the paper curl. The heavier the paper that you use, the more likely it will curl. The solution to this is that if the paper curls one way, flip it around to prevent curling. Also, the color printing output doesn’t look as great as the black ink output.

Conclusion: Even with the toner annoyance and the curling, the MFC 9970CDW by Brother is a good bang for your buck. Think about it– it does the work of four different machines, and at state of the art levels. It prints fast, it scans fast, it duplexes for you automatically in case you have to print on both sides of the paper. And it’s wireless so it’s suitable for an office environment. Brother is known for making a good printer, and this one is no exception.
